a:design association in conjunction with the DBA presents Adrian Rasdall, Revenue Matters.
There are not many forecasters who are predicting a happy time for the design industry in 2009. The credit crunch is now upon us and talk has turned to the dreaded word – recession.
Even if the economy does not start to slide backwards we are undoubtedly going to experience what the economic commentators call a 'strong economic downturn'. For many sectors such as construction and finance it has already arrived – resulting in marketing and design budgets being slashed or put on hold.
To help you understand and make the difficult decisions that are going to come your way in the next year you need to attend this event.
Adrian will cover the following topics:
You need two plans
A) Trading your way out and B) Cutting your way out

As businesses and organisations are under increasing pressure to reduce overheads, remain competitive and provide an unrivalled product or service to consumers, the competition for managerial talent is fierce.
Talent retention and attraction will be the hot topic at Durham Business School's latest Corporate Forum event which takes place next Thursday 2 October.
The seminar, which is open to businesses across the region, will look at the impact of ‘employer branding', what attracts highly talented managers and professionals to switch jobs and what keeps them loyal?
Key speakers include Professor Tom Redman and Dr Graham Dietz of Durham Business School and Lucy Hatt, HR Director at leading recruitment agency, Nigel Wright.
The presentations will report on research conducted the Business School, in association with Nigel Wright, into the concept of 'employer branding'. Is employer branding the ultimate weapon for winning the 'war' for managerial talent - or does its allure and promise create more problems than it solves?
To find out how the Corporate Forum can help take your business to another level and to book your place online log on to www.dur.ac.uk/dbs/support/corporate-forum/booking-form or contact Tracey Wallis Million, corporate relations manager, Durham Business School.

The plain truth is most websites simply don't work.
Even if you create a great website, the world will not necessarily flock to it. It's not a shop window that people find themselves walking past: it's out there in cyberspace with millions of other websites.
You could create a website which tells the world the secret of how to change scrap metal into gold, but if all you did was publish it on the web, guess what? It'll still be a secret.
You have to drive people to your website and you do that with Internet Marketing, this Seminar will explain how.
This event would normally cost £97.00 but is FREE to all DCM members.
