There’s just a few weeks to go until members of the North East business community prepare to don their finery for the most glittering event in the Cels calendar. On Thursday 4 December businesses around the region will descend on the Hilton Newcastle Gateshead for the annual Business for Life Awards.

This year is tipped to be even bigger and better than the inaugural awards in 2007 and with former SAS trooper and author Chris Ryan confirmed as guest speaker, the ceremony has already eclipsed last year. Geordie Chris needs little introduction as he is most famous for being the only member of an eight-man team to escape from Iraq. It was the longest escape and evasion in the history of the SAS and he was duly awarded the Military Medal.

Last year’s inaugural awards, which celebrated the achievements of North East England’s healthcare industry, saw over 300 company representatives from across the region attend to see their peers pick up awards for innovation, growth, export achievement, start-up success and for working collaboratively with the NHS.

The winners are automatically entered into the Medilink UK National Awards, which recognises the country’s most innovative healthcare companies. Three of last year’s regional winners tasted success at national level and walked away with top honours – Peacocks Medical Group, ImmunoDiagnostic Systems (IDS) and Hart Biologicals.
