Tom Algie wanted to give himself and his three staff the day off but without letting down his customers, reports the Daily Mail.</p><p>He left a note telling shoppers to serve themselves and then leave their payment in the box he had left behind the counter. When Mr Algie, 47, returned at 4.15pm to close up, he was delighted to find the shop in Settle, had taken Â£187.66 - and two euros.</p>]]></description>

			<description><![CDATA[<p>The search for the ultimate Christmas present is over: NASA has announced plans to sell off its space shuttles when they stop flying in 2010, at a cost of at least $42m (Â£27m) apiece - postage and packing included.</p><p>The advertised price is just the starting figure for any one of the orbiters Discovery, Atlantis or Endeavour, which between them have flown 86 missions into space since 1984. Included is the minimum $6m cost of stripping a shuttle of toxic and other hazardous materials, preparing it for travel and flying it to an airport of the buyer's choosing.</p>]]></description>

Auctioneer Jethro Marles said its owner was having a clear-out and brought in a few pieces she was planning to take to a charity shop or car boot sale.</p><p>He told the Daily Mirror: "I looked at the umbrella and got excited. She had no idea what it was worth. This is a very good example of that work."</p>]]></description>
