Young Enterprise gives students a reality check

Young Enterprise North East (YENE) has been giving young people a reality check for this year's Enterprise Week - they are the first enterprise education initiative to call "time out" on a programme and give their students a one-off master class in surviving the credit crunch.

The event was held at Newcastle University for students who are already running their own test company as part of YENE's Graduate and Company Programmes. The seminar provided students with advice on how they should adjust their business strategy to fit the current climate.

Enterprise Week started early for some in the North East this year, as the North East Enterprise Bond launched a whole month of enterprising activity.

In conjunction with the 'Make Your Mark Challenge 2008' and South Tyneside College, the team launched a whole month of enterprising activity, when students boarded the Launch Pad mobile enterprise education centre to take part in a challenge aimed at developing their skills and brainstorming money making ideas.

A new mobile classroom has been launched in Redcar and Cleveland to inspire the next generation of youngsters in the borough.

The Redcar and Cleveland enterprise team has launched the Technology and Enterprise Den, or TED, to be used as a learning resource primary school pupils in the fields of technology and enterprise.
