			<description><![CDATA[<p>An idea to sell branded hoodies to marine students has won an enterprise competition judged by the last ever Captain of the QE2. Captain Ian McNaught worked on the QE2 from 1987 until November 2008, when the ship sailed its last voyage to become a floating hotel in Dubai.</p><p>In December Captain McNaught returned to his former college in South Tyneside to judge a Dragons' Den-style enterprise competition for marine students.</p>]]></description>

			<description><![CDATA[<p>House prices look set to fall further in 2009, resulting in an overall price decline of at least 25%, says the housing market forecast published at the end of last year by the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors.</p><p>The on-going caution of lenders and the worsening economic climate is likely to result in a decline in house prices of around 10% over the next 12 months.  However, recent RICS housing market surveys indicate transaction activity may have reached the bottom and there could be an increase in sales of more than 10% during 2009.</p>]]></description>

			<title><![CDATA[‘New year, new job' resolution is abandoned ]]></title>

			<description><![CDATA[<p>The global financial meltdown has put an end to the annual New Year's resolution to get a new job, a survey revealed on Monday. This week is traditionally the start of the so-called 'Great Escape', when thousands of workers trawl the market place for better jobs and bigger salaries. But 80% of 2,000 workers polled would like to remain in their current jobs, and said that they felt fortunate to be in employment at the moment.</p><p>The study, carried out by <a href="http://www.nesta.org.uk/">NESTA</a>, the National Endowment for Science, Technology and the Arts, also revealed that half of employees will now work harder to do better in their current job amid the uncertainty which lies ahead. Half also said they couldn't see themselves looking for a new job for the foreseeable future and 86% said they believed competition for jobs that do exist is fiercer than ever.</p>]]></description>
