Fires fuel growth

A COUNTY Durham firm is fuelling growth both home and abroad having enjoyed a 25% increase in sales since 2008.

Newton Aycliffe-based CVO Fire, which makes flueless fires, recently opened its first showroom in Germany, and has plans to expand its current 20-strong workforce in the UK.

The launch of the new showroom in Munich follows a successful start to 2010 for CVO, which saw new enquiries jump by 50% because of the cold snap in January.

Managing director, Andrew Munro, said: “The launch in Germany was a fantastic success and the new showroom looks amazing.

“We are very excited about increasing our European presence which is helping to increase production and create jobs in County Durham.”

A flueless fire heats a room by burning natural gas, and the device has been heralded by CVO as a core ingredient to its growth in the market.

The fires do not require a chimney and are said to be 100% energy efficient. This means running costs are 60% less compared to conventional gas fires.

CVO’s ranges have become increasingly popular and the company has now worked with major brands including Hilton, Marriott and Greene King.

In the coming weeks, CVO will also launch its flagship South East-based showroom, near Reading, and has plans to expand on its sale sites in Germany, Holland and Italy.
