Accreditation drives European expansion
An IT firm is on track to more than quadruple its turnover to £5m by next year – creating up to 20 jobs in the process – after winning an accreditation that will fuel its expansion across the country and into Europe.
Newcastle-based Aegis IT has become one of only five companies in the UK to be awarded an accreditation from global virtual software group VMware.
VMware’s technology allows businesses to access new IT infrastructure remotely as and when they need it.
As the only firm in the North of England with its stamp of approval, Aegis now expects huge demand from more heavyweight clients nationally and in Europe.
The firm is already in negotiations for potential contracts in Scotland, Hertfordshire and Leeds where it runs a satellite office.
On the back of a contract with French car giant Renault, the business is also confident of being much sought after on the Continent following its new accreditation.
Technical director David McPherson said: “We are six years old and we’ve grown every year since we started.
“Our turnover was £1.2m last year while we expect to do £2.5m this year and £5m next year.
“The accreditation means we can extend our reach massively out of the region and support jobs in the North East.
“It also means we can talk to more heavyweight customers. We are currently seeing an uplift in larger corporations investing again.”
Aegis, which currently employs 12 people at Newcastle’s Charlotte Square, expects to take on between 10 and 20 people in the next two years as it continues its expansion.
