Sports day to boost trade
A seminar later this month will tell North East businesses how they can use international sporting events to hop, skip and jump their way into overseas markets.
UK Trade & Investment is holding a free seminar in Newcastle looking at “Developing International Trade Through Sport”.
The seminar, on 23 March at St James’ Park, will bring together a host of specialist speakers to give general advice and one-to-one clinics for delegates who hope to use international sport as a way into the export market.
But the event is not just for those companies in the sports industry, as UKTI’s International Trade Adviser John Doolan said: "This seminar is really for anyone who is interested in exporting goods and services from the North East.
“It may be too late for this year’s World Cup but with global events coming thick and fast in terms of football, rugby, cricket, athletics to name but a few, there is plenty of opportunity for North East companies to really go for gold and get involved in this important and growing sector.
“It really is a case of anything from toilet rolls to infrastructure works that could benefit from exports from this region and we urge anyone who is interested to come along.”
