Skills conference returns to North East

North East Skills, the region’s largest careers and training event for young people, is returning to Newcastle in September 2009.

Employers, educational organisations and training providers will attend the event, which will give thousands of young visitors the chance to find out more about career opportunities.

The event will be staged at the Metro Radio Arena in Newcastle on Tuesday 29 and Wednesday 30 September 2009.

Last year, North East Skills attracted over 5,000 visitors from across the region, and event organisers are aiming to make this year’s convention even bigger.

Companies and organisations who have already booked a place include the Army, Connexions, Gateshead College, icould, Lifetracks, New College Durham, People 1st and UKSP, the Prison Service North East, Rio Tinto Alcan, the Royal Navy & Royal Marines, Sage Academy of Performing Arts Ltd, and Sanofi-ventis.

Michelle Manning of Sanofi-Aventis said: “North East Skills is great, we get out there and talk to students and teachers, who are enthusiastic about learning about the opportunities on offer - its good to be able to give something back, these young people may be our future workforce.”
