North East firms are being urged to look at the Middle East as it focuses on building for the future.
UK Trade & Investment has teamed up with the North East Chamber of Commerce (NECC), First Gulf Bank, legal firm Eversheds, County DurhamDevelopment Company (CDDC) and airline Emirates to host an event focusing on doing business in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Saudi Arabia.
The "Opportunities in the UAE and Saudi Arabia" event will be held in the Riverside Suite of Durham County Cricket Club on Friday, 5 December.
David Coppock, UK Trade & Investment's International Trade Director, who will chair the event, said: "The markets of the Middle East offer huge opportunities for British businesses. Their economies are booming and trade is growing rapidly.
"The economic focus is now on creating a vision to build for the future and projects valued at more than 1.2 trillion US Dollars are currently planned or underway in the Gulf alone and we want to help North East firms play a part in that future.
"There are opportunities in most industry sectors including energy and environment, defence, construction, financial, healthcare, transport, education and skills and professional services.
"Our event offers an ideal chance for delegates to find out more about the markets and the opportunities they offer and our experts will be available for one-to-one meetings to discuss specific requirements."
Local companies who have already successfully exported to the UAE and Saudi Arabia will also be on hand to discuss their own experiences and one-to-one clinics to discuss support services, international documentation, finance, legal services and business travel will be available with experts from UK Trade & Investment, NECC, First Gulf Bank, Eversheds and Emirates.
