We're all dirty, apparently. Well, some of us are. We learned this week that many people in the UK do not wash their hands as well as they should, spreading potentially harmful germs and other nasties to their friends, family, colleagues, and random people in the street.
According to the BBC, the tests carried out by the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine found that more than one in four commuters had faecal matter on their hands. This number rose as the researchers went North, finding that 53% of men tested in Newcastle had filthy hands, along with 30% of women. When we heard these findings, we looked suspiciously around the office at bdaily Towers, eyeing up the potential non-hand-washers. If the findings were representative of the whole population, then at least a quarter of our colleagues were carrying some disgusting little microbes on their hands...
After a short spell of panic, we decided that sealing ourselves off in a Howard Hughes-style hermetic chamber would not be a practical measure. Instead we thought we'd carry out our own, entirely unscientific survey to find out if these figures were accurate.
To this end, this week's Friday Poll asks: Do you wash your hands as often as you should?
Yes, of course I do
No, I forget sometimes
Don't forget, the Friday Poll is completely anonymous, so don't be afraid to answer honestly. We won't judge you.
