Earlier this week we heard that Gateshead council believes that the iconic North East sculpture, the Angel of the North, has helped to grow the region's economy over the past ten years.
While the Angel has become an instantly recognisable symbol of the region, we wondered whether ascribing economic success to its presence is a truly realistic position. Would the North East have fallen into financial ruin without the Angel? Or has it drawn business and money to the region which would have gone elswwhere without Antony Gormley's sculpture?
This week's Friday Poll asks: Has the Angel of the North really contributed to the North East's economy?
Yes, it's a symbol for North East businesses to rally around
No, it's just a tourist attraction
